Southampton were humiliated 9-0 by Leicester City at St Mary’s on a nightmare evening for Saints.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side capitulated after 10 minutes when not only did they go a goal down, but they also went a man down.
The goal came courtesy of Ben Chilwell who finished the rebound from an initial Angus Gunn save but it was about to get a whole lot worse.
VAR went back to look at an earlier incident involving Ryan Bertrand and the left-back was adjudged to have produced a high tackle on Ayoze Perez and was shown the red card.
Youri Tielemans made it two via a Harvey Barnes cross and a poor Yan Valery touch in the box before the Belgian fired home.
It was getting messy for the hosts as Leicester made it three inside 20 minutes, this time Ayoze Perez was the goalscorer.
Another for Perez and a first of the match for Jamie Vardy made it 5-0 before half-time.
Perez got his hat-trick, Vardy got a hat-trick and James Maddison scored a free-kick after the break to complete the rout.
On one of Southampton’s worst-ever days as a Premier League club, here’s how we rated the players:
