Danny Ings is in red-hot form for Southampton at the moment.
He has scored six goals in all competitions this season, and five of these have come in his four most recent outings.
Ings continued his excellent run with a strike in Saints’ 1-1 draw away at Wolves on Saturday afternoon, and following the weekend’s fixtures, a surprising statistic has emerged.
As brought to light by Duncan Alexander on Twitter, Ings himself has had as many shots on target in the month of October as Manchester United in the Premier League.

Whether this is a reflection of just how good Ings is or just how bad United are is open for interpretation, but it’s not a bad record for Ings to boast…

Ings is Saints’ best player right now, and without him, the team would be in an even worse position than they are.
He needs to be provided with better service throughout matches; while he has missed some good chances in recent times, he is the club’s most potent attacking threat in the absence of Moussa Djenepo.
Ings has already cemented himself as a hero at Southampton following his performance against Portsmouth last month.
If he continues to show such efficiency in front of goal, though, the best could be yet to come for the 27-year-old this season.
