Wolverhampton Wanderers have been handed a boost with three key first-team figures back in light training ahead of this weekend’s clash against Southampton.

Tim Spiers of The Athletic has confirmed that Pedro Neto, Romain Saiss and Diogo Jota have stepped up their respective recoveries from injury, with a decision yet to be made about their availability for the Saints game.

Wolves suffered a difficult start to the season but are in excellent form. They defeated Watford 2-0 before travelling to Besiktas in the Europa League and winning 1-0.

Most impressively, though, their last fixture before the international break was a 2-0 win away at Premier League champions Manchester City, which is sure to have given Nuno Espirito Santo’s men plenty of confidence.

Neto and Saiss are utilised somewhat as rotational options for Wolves, but Jota’s return would be a big boost for them.

The Portuguese attacker has proven to be a real livewire since arriving at Molineux, and following a spell on the sidelines, he’d be raring to go against Southampton’s leaky defence.

Ultimately, Wolves have a strong squad and are capable of fielding a starting line-up that would provide any team with some problems – just ask City.

Saints are the underdogs in this game, but given Wolves’ well-documented struggles against teams towards the foot-end of the Premier League table in the past couple of seasons, coming away with a point at least is not an unreasonable demand.
