Fraser Forster has tipped Mohamed Elyounoussi to shine at Celtic this season.

The experienced goalkeeper saw the winger follow him through the door at Parkhead in the summer as the pair linked up with Neil Lennon’s side on respective season-long loan deals.

Forster has been a mainstay between the sticks for the Hoops so far this season, while Elyounoussi has gradually found his feet.

The 25-year-old opened his account for Celtic last week as he netted the second goal of his side’s 2-0 win over Cluj in the second matchday of the Europa League group stages.

Forster, as quoted by The Sunday Post, discussed how he reckons Elyounoussi will kick on following his maiden Hoops goal. He said:

I was really pleased for Moi. It has been a tough year for him too, and that will do him the world of good.

He was absolutely brilliant against Cluj and capped it off with the goal. That can only boost his confidence and also help the team to know we have players like that to come in and make an impact.

Moi is a fantastic technical player, great touch and ability. He probably doesn’t have the same pace that James Forrest brings on the other side, but he has fantastic attributes and has done it at international level over the past few years.

The run of games will do him good and I’m sure he will build on what he did against Cluj.

Elyounoussi looked good for Basel in the Champions League before his move to Southampton and has turned in two good performances for Celtic in the Europa League already.

He had a pretty terrible campaign at Southampton, and a move to Scotland will hopefully allow him the chance to regain his confidence and prove himself once again.

Elyounoussi, like Forster, will be desperate to show that he is capable of playing top-level football, and keeping up the good work on the European stage will go some way in helping him do exactly that.
