Wilson set to join Rangers as director of football – Blow for the Saints

Southampton’s head of football operations Ross Wilson is set to join Scottish Premiership side Rangers as their new director of football, according to a report on the Daily Mail.

The Scot was on course to secure the role two years ago, but he turned down the offer by the Glasgow club.

The 36-year-old is famous for bringing Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanayama and Fraser Forster to the Premier League.

He spoke highly of the role two years ago despite turning it down and it is now understood that he is the front-runner for the job once again.

Is this a blow for the Saints?

This could prove to be a huge loss for the club. Wilson is very good at what he does and has made some cracking business decisions in recent years.

The Saints will be hoping that he turns down Rangers’ advances once again, but if he doesn’t, then they’ll need to make an adequate decision about who could replace him.

He’s likely to be keen to move back to Scotland and this is the perfect opportunity for him to do so.
