Garth Crooks has named Moussa Djenepo in his Premier League Team of the Weekend for BBC Sport.
The pundit’s weekly selections always cause more than a few eyebrows to be raised, but one Southampton star has made the cut following the win at Sheffield United.
Djenepo glided past challenges before coolly slotting the ball beyond Dean Henderson to clinch a 1-0 win for Saints at Bramall Lane.

Crooks has clearly been left excited by the Malian and said:
The goal was just wonderful. If this had been scored by David Ginola, Thierry Henry or Gianfranco Zola we would be showing it every week for the next three months.
It was Djenepo who produced a little bit of magic in Southampton’s 2-0 defeat of Brighton recently but this is becoming something of a habit. Have the Saints found another Sadio Mane? I think they might have, you know.

Crooks has developed something of a reputation for shoehorning as many attackers into his Team of the Weekends as possible, and this edition is no different…

Do you agree?
Here’s why he made these selections:… https://t.co/j2UrwCP2PD (@BBCSport)
Djenepo and Norwich pair Emi Buendia and Todd Cantwell have all rotated positions throughout the opening exchanges of the season so far, but none have played as central midfielders.

Nevertheless, it’s good to see that Djenepo is earning plaudits, and deservedly so. He has been excellent since walking through the door at Southampton, and his display at Sheffield United was impressive.
While he was caught out at times by the Blades’ balls in behind him when he operated as a left wing-back, but he was irresistible when he advanced into a more natural, attacking role.
Let’s hope he can continue in this rich vein of form and net again when Saints welcome Bournemouth to St Mary’s on Friday.
