Southampton claimed a hard-fought point, despite a late red card, after drawing 1-1 against Manchester United at St Mary’s.
Despite a positive start from Saints, Manchester United opened the scoring after 10 minutes thanks to Daniel James, who cut in from the left and fired the ball into the top corner.
United then started to take control of the match for much of the first-half but couldn’t get a crucial second goal.
Saints found the equaliser 13 minutes after the break thanks to Jannik Vestergaard’s first goal for the club after he headed home a Kevin Danso cross. This came moments after Danny Ings tested David De Gea from a near post header courtesy of a James Ward-Prowse corner.
Danso was then shown a red card after a very silly challenge that warranted a second yellow, he got his first one earlier on for a cynical foul.
