Premier League football is back, ladies and gentlemen, and Southampton kick off their 2019/20 campaign with a tricky trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley.
It’s been a positive build-up to the new season. Saints won all but one of their pre-season fixtures, have a clean bill of health heading into this match, and are in good shape.
Che Adams has settled in well following his move from Birmingham City, and Moussa Djenepo has had some time to bed in. Kevin Danso won’t be available, but his late arrival has given fans a big boost.
Ralph Hasenhuttl will be hoping that his men can enjoy greater fortunes than their previous trip to Turf Moor, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Nathan Redmond opened the scoring with a fine goal before Ashley Barnes dispatched a stoppage-time penalty to see the honours shared evenly.
It’s difficult to know just what to expect from both sides on Saturday, but it is sure to be a closely-contested fixture. So, take a look at where I reckon the game will be won and lost against Burnley, as I assess the key battles that are likely to be on show!
