Southampton enjoyed a fairly comfortable end to the 2018/19 season after sweating on their Premier League status for most of the campaign.
Until Ralph Hasenhuttl took over in December, many were tipping Southampton to finish in the bottom three under Mark Hughes.
However, the Austrian stepped in and, despite not making any signings in the January transfer window, was able to guide the club to a midtable finish in the league.
Hasenhuttl will now be hoping to strengthen his squad this summer in order to push on next year and aim to progress in the league, perhaps targetting a top 10 finish.
One market they could look into is the loan market. They could try to snap up promising talent from some of Europe’s top clubs and look to utilise their talent for a season, at least.
