As the end of the season approaches, Southampton are eight points clear of relegation and look set to be a Premier League club next season.
Over the last six years, the Saints have claimed a top-eight position three times, so supporters will be hoping their team rebuilds and battles for European qualification once again in seasons to come.
However, it hasn’t been a fantastic season for the Saints as they have only managed to find the back of the net 39 times, seven of these coming from Danny Ings.
Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl will be looking to strengthen his squad for next season with attacking and defensive options surely being on the top of his list.
Here are a few Bundesliga players Southampton should consider signing to help improve the squad and have them competing for a top 10 spot.
Alassane Plea
The French attacker has netted 11 goals this season and has added a further three assists to his name. The forward would be a great signing for the Saints
Joelinton
Being just 22 he has a lot of potential, with seven goals and five assists this season. The Brazilian is a name to look out for.
Jonathan de Guzman
The ex-Swansea midfielder has had a decent season in the Bundesliga with six assists and two goals in 24 games.
Bastian Oczipka
Oczipka is an experienced defender who can play in multiple positions, most recently as a left wing back. He has one goal and four assists this campaign.
Kevin Trapp
Trapp has been a key player for Frankfurt this season as his seven clean sheets has helped his side push for a top four position.
Karim Rekik
The Dutch defender is still only 24 and has played 19 games this season for Hertha Berlin. He would be a great addition to the Southampton squad.
