Southampton have left themselves in a lot of trouble after the end of the January transfer window as they failed to sign a striker last month.
The Saints let Manolo Gabbiadini leave, but failed to replace him and with Danny Ings now injured, they have left themselves with Shane Long up front for the next few weeks.
It is a clear problem area for Southampton and something they have to address in the summer, regardless of their division.
Here are five strikers they could target…
The prolific Brentford striker has been brilliant in the Championship this season and would add some extra quality to Southampton’s front line.
The French forward has 11 goals and 8 assists for Frankfurt in the Bundesliga this season and would be a superb addition to Southampton’s side.
Zapata, on loan to Atalanta from Sampdoria, has 16 goals and 4 assists in the Serie A this season – only three less than Cristiano Ronaldo. It would take a hefty fee to prize him away, but Southampton need a player of his quality to push on.
Abraham will return to Chelsea from his loan spell at Aston Villa in the summer and Southampton could look to snap him up on loan. The forward has 20 Championship goals already for Villa this season.
An obvious target after he was linked in the January window, Adams has been on fire for Birmingham this season and would be a terrific addition to Hasenhuttl’s squad.
