Southampton gave up a two-goal lead against Derby on Saturday as they were held to a draw in the third round of the FA Cup.
A double from Nathan Redmond in the first-half gave Southampton a strong position at half-time, but two goals in three minutes in the second-half from Derby mean that a replay at St. Mary’s is now needed.
Ralph Hasenhuttl will be frustrated that his side let go of another lead and they now face another match during a hectic Premier League schedule as they look to get out of the relegation zone.
Despite the draw, there were some positives to come out of the game and we have picked our man of the match.
Our Southampton man of the match against Derby is… Nathan Redmond!
The winger has been superb since Hasenhuttl’s arrival and is starting to show the form promised since he joined the club from Norwich in 2016.
He scored twice and was Southampton’s most threatening player on the ball, always looking to open up the play and create chances for himself and his teammates.
