Premier League club Southampton are eyeing a move for Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull after some impressive performances from the youngster so far this season, according to a report on HITC.

Turnbull has represented Scotland at U20 level and his current deal with Motherwell expires at the end of the season, which has alerted the Saints.

The Premier League club reportedly sent scouts earlier in the season to watch the midfielder in action and they could now be ready to lure him to the St Mary’s Stadium.

New manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is well known for giving young players a chance as he did whilst managing RB Leipzig in Germany. This could entice Turnbull to make the move to the English club if they make an offer for him.

Turnbull has managed to find the back of the net four times and has registered four assists in all competitions this season, but Motherwell sits in a lowly 9th place in the league table.
