Southampton were left frustrated after they conceded a goal in injury time to draw 2-2 with Brighton at St. Mary’s.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Danny Ings scored the goals as they took a two-goal lead in the game.
Shane Duffy scored Brighton’s first goal, as he headed home a matter of minutes after Ings made it 2-0.
James Ward-Prowse then let his team down after coming off the bench when he gave away a penalty in the 91st minute, which Glenn Murray converted.
Here is how we rated the Saints players after the game…
Alex McCarthy: 6
Should have come off his line for Brighton’s opener and had little else to do.
Cedric: 7
Consistency is needed in Cedric’s game after last season and he looks like he is starting to provide that.
Jannik Vestergaard: 7
Could be blamed for Brighton’s first goal, was good for the rest of the game.
Wesley Hoedt: 8
Rock at the back, great performance from Hoedt.
Ryan Bertrand: 7
Solid display down the left.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: 9
Sensational goal and excellent all-round play in midfield, winning the ball back and using it well.
Mario Lemina: 8
Bossed the midfield alongside Hojbjerg.
Nathan Redmond: 6
Threatened in the first-half but petered out as the game went on.
Mo Elyounoussi: 6
Looked good in spells but failed to get into the game for the majority.
Shane Long: 3
Was very poor. Missed a clear-cut chance and looked all over the place.
Danny Ings: 8
Brilliant play to win the penalty, and then a cool finish to convert it.
