Burnley have reportedly ended their pursuit of Southampton midfielder James Ward Prowse, with the Clarets now only looking at loan deals.
The Daily Mail report that the move will not happen this window with only limited time left before the window slams shut until January.
Saints had said that Ward Prowse would only be allowed to leave the club on a permanent deal, and would not be allowed to leave St Marys on loan.
The Clarets are looking to strengthen their team for the Europa League, as Sean Dyche’s side look to compete in Europe’s secondary competition.
Ward Prowse has struggled to nail down a starting spot in the Saints eleven since breaking into the side six years ago.
He made 21 appearances for Saints last season, but still struggled to hold down a starting spot.
A move away from Southampton could be on the horizon if he is unable to hold down a starting spot this season.
