Mark Hughes has revealed that Sofiane Boufal is now training with the U-23s after a reported bust-up with the Saints boss.
The Moroccan had reportedly fallen out with Hughes and did not attend training yesterday.
Hughes confirmed in his press conference today that Boufal will now be training with the U23s as a result, and will not be available for the key game against Bournemouth at the weekend.
“Unfortunately Sofi(ane) made a mistake that he acknowledged and has acknowledged to me since.
At the moment he’s training with the U23’s. He’s missed a few days of training because he was ill and given where we are at the moment it’s probably best served training with a different group, just to make people aware that the situation we found ourselves in wasn’t what should have happened.
So he understands that now so he probably now just needs to build a little bit of trust with his teammates and that’s the process we’re working towards.
Boufal joined Southampton last Summer and has been a key player for the Saints since.
