Southampton have joined the race to sign highly rated Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Sean Clare when the transfer window opens in the summer, as reported by Team Talk.
The youngster has come into the first team fold in recent weeks at the Championship club having impressed the coaching staff in the training sessions.
He has performed very well for the club when he has been giving the chance and looks set to spark a bidding war in the summer.
In the past couple of seasons, he has been out on loan in the football league gaining experience at the likes of Crewe, Accrington and Gillingham after being forced to wait for his chance at his parent club.
The player’s contract comes to an end at the summer and the Saints are one of a number of clubs who are keen to sign the player including Tottenham and Newcastle United.
He has failed to sign a new deal so far as the club aren’t keen on losing him on a free deal this summer.
