Our man of the match: Liverpool (H)
Southampton fell to yet another Premier League defeat as they lost 2-0 to Liverpool on Sunday.
The Saints have dropped back into the relegation zone after the defeat, and have only won one of their last 14 league matches.
Mauricio Pellegrino’s side have also now gone seven games without a win at home in the league, with the last win at St. Mary’s coming against Everton in November.
First-half goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino gave Liverpool a comfortable lead, and they defended it well in the second-half.
Although, Southampton did not make it hard for them and were bereft of creativity and quality going forward.
The likes of Manolo Gabbiadini, Sofiane Boufal and Nathan Redmond were all left on the bench.
Picking a man of the match has been hard, with it being a poor performance from the Saints.
However, our Saints man of the match is… Jack Stephens!
The English defender played relatively well at the back and made some important blocks and interceptions.
He seemed to have more attacking impetus than any of Southampton’s midfielders and attackers after Mario Lemina went off, looking to burst forward from defence when needed.
