Southampton travel to nearby neighbours Bournemouth this weekend as they look to react to the disappointment of Wednesday night against Manchester City.
The Saints will be hoping to improve upon their current form in the league on the road having won none of their last four matches on the road.
Bournemouth currently sit in 15th place in the table after making an inconsistent start to the season. Although, they have picked up some results of late, losing just one of their last four matches.
The Cherries will also be looking to react after disappointment in the week, as they lost to Burnley at the Vitality Stadium 2-1.
This fixture is critical for both as the sides placed between 7th and the bottom three currently have very little between them. Any points that can be earned now are sure to be important ahead of the rest of the season.
Here are five things to watch out for at the Vitality Stadium.
A lively atmosphere
Given the close proximity of the two teams, you can expect both sets of fans to be right up for this one on Sunday lunchtime in front of the cameras. Both sets of supporters will also be keen to take the bragging rights at the final whistle.
Return of Pied
The Frenchman’s chances have been very limited this season but with Cedric Soares ruled out, this provides the 28-year-old a great opportunity to stake his claim for a regular first team spot.
Strong midfield battle
The midfield battle will be vital in this one and now Saints have got Mario Lemina and Oriol Romeu back, it could prove to be brilliant contest against Bournemouth’s Harry Arter and ex-Saint, Andrew Surman.
Charlie Austin to score
Austin has to start after netting a brace last weekend, and I think he’ll be back among the goals this weekend against a poor Cherries back-line. He could prove a handful for them.
Saints to keep it tight
The Saints defence has been solid so far this season and I think they will keep the hosts quiet particularly with Romeu and Lemina in front of them. Also, the central defensive area is now becoming a more settled partnership, with Hoedt and Van Dijk.
