Southampton were left frustrated as they were beaten 1-0 at St. Mary’s by Burnley on Saturday.
Sam Vokes came off the bench to score an 81st-minute winner for Burnley, with their only shot on target in the match.
The Southampton-born forward beat Maya Yoshida in the air and Fraser Forster failed to keep out his low header as it nestled into the bottom corner.
Mauricio Pellegrino dropped Wesley Hoedt after a strong performance against Brighton last week, with Yoshida giving away the goal for Vokes.
The Saints boss was then booed by certain sections of supporters after he took Manolo Gabbiadini off midway through the second half for Charlie Austin – leaving two defensive midfielders on the pitch.
Southampton now sit 13th in the table and once again leave their fans wanting more as they struggle in front of goals, and struggle to gain points…
