Over recent years, Southampton have continually broken their long-standing transfer record from 2001 when Rory Delap signed from Derby. It’s a record that stood until Jay Rodriguez switched Turf Moor for St Mary’s in 2012.
Since Rodriguez’s arrival, a total of 15 players have joined the Saints for higher transfer fees, which also sees Rory Delap now fall to the club’s 20th most expensive signing of all time.
