Southampton have confirmed that promising winger Lloyd Isgrove has extended his current loan deal at League One outfit Barnsley for a further six months; a deal that will take the Welshman up until the end of the season.
Isgrove featured frequently during Southampton’s pre-season campaign last summer, however it was evident that the 23-year-old would struggle to get a look-in amid the return of Jay Rodriguez from injury as well as the addition of another attacker in the form of Juanmi and now the January addition of Charlie Austin, meaning that the attacking competition within the squad is too much for Isgrove.
The promising wide man is no stranger to spells away from St Mary’s, after he has spent the last two seasons at lower league clubs Peterborough and Sheffield Wednesday in respective seasons.

However, since impressing at the Tykes in the first half of the season, they have taken the decision to keep Isgrove until the end of the 2015/16 campaign.
Isgrove has played 13 times so far this season for Barnsley and has shown several signs of promise, as the winger looks to break into the Southampton first-team next season.
Can you see Isgrove becoming a key player at St Mary’s?
