According to the printed edition of L’Equipe, Southampton are still tracking long-term target Giannelli Imbula from Porto and could be willing to place a bid in the coming days.
Southampton were thought to be interested in the summer for Imbula and he was touted as a potential summer replacement for Victor Wanyama. However, Wanyama didn’t leave the club and Imbula eventually joined Porto from Ligue 1 side Marseille.
Yet, Imbula has not been able to fully settle in Portugal and L’Equipe are saying that he could be ready to leave Porto. This news is thought to have place Southampton on high alert.
The Saints are not the only club to be credited with interest in the midfielder as Stoke, Aston Villa and West Brom have also been mentioned as potential suitors for the Frenchman.
With Imbulla’s situation looking precarious, Southampton may make a bid in the coming days of the window in an attempt to prize him to the Premier League.
