According to various reports, Swansea are eyeing a shock move for Southampton midfielder Gaston Ramirez after Saints boss Ronald Koeman confirmed that the Uruguayan international was not in his plans for the future.
Ramirez was signed for what was then a club record fee of £12 million in Southampton’s first transfer window back in the top flight, but has failed to live up to the expectations that were set for him after a superb tenure in Italy with Bologna, who have also been linked with him.
The 25-year-old has featured only four times for Southampton this season and is yet to play a full match this campaign, but Swansea appear to be the latest club to take an interest in Ramirez.

However, the Swans are not the only side that are looking to add Ramirez to their squad this month, as former club Bologna have been heavily touted to re-sign the creative midfielder, as well as claims of an audacious loan move from Middlesbrough.
Ramirez’s contract at St Mary’s expires in June and it comes as no surprise to see Saints trying to get some kind of fee for the Uruguay man, in an attempt to re-coup a small amount of the £12 million that they paid for him.
The creative midfielder’s talents are undoubted, however it has simply not worked out at Southampton and his time at the club has almost certainly come to an end.
