Pelle turns down contract offer
Southampton forward Graziano Pelle has reportedly turned down a new and improved contract offer amid interest that the Italian international could be departing St Mary’s next summer.
Pelle’s current contract has just under 18 months left and it is highly likely that the powerful striker will leave the club next summer.
The outbreak of speculation regarding Pelle’s future at Southampton was reignited by the imminent arrival of new £4 million signing Charlie Austin, who is widely expected to make his debut against Manchester United on Saturday and be Saints’ first choice striker.
The deal in proposal that Saints offered the 30-year-old was for his current contract to be extended for a further three year, taking his contract’s expiry date up to 2020, however Pelle remained unconvinced with Saints’ offer and declined the extension.
After yet another twist in the situation regarding Pelle, it will come as no surprise to see a large amount of clubs across Europe circling for the experienced forward.
In recent weeks, Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United have been rumoured to be interested in Pelle, but more recently the attraction of Pelle has struck in the Serie A. Champions Juventus and fellow Italian league outfit Lazio are eyeing a move for the 30-year-old, after he claimed that he is missing the beauty of his homeland.
Would you like to see Pelle remain at Southampton, or would you like to see him depart amid the arrival of Charlie Austin?
