Southampton are reportedly hopeful that controversial midfielder Victor Wanyama will pen a new deal at the club amid widely documented interest from Arsenal and Tottenham regarding a summer move.
At the end of last summer, Wanyama attempted pushing through a move to former boss Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs side, submitting a formal transfer request and deeming himself as mentally unfit to feature for Southampton for a short period of time.
This angered many Southampton fans, and rightly so, however Saints boss Ronald Koeman was adamant that keeping Wanyama at the club was crucial for their season ahead.

Five months later, Koeman is poised to persuade the Kenyan powerhouse to tie down a new long-term contract with the club, but appreciates that Wanyama may be seeking pastures new this summer.
Despite Koeman’s evident desire to tie down Wanyama for a further time at the club, it’s safe to say that the Kenyan has been in poor form so far this campaign. The 24-year-old has picked up an astonishing two red cards just over halfway through the season, as well as an extremely disappointing seven yellow cards already.
Would you like to see Wanyama extend his stay at St Mary’s, or would you be happy to see him leave?
