Southampton defender Florin Gardos has given an insight to the Saints’ supporters as in regards to how his ongoing recovery is developing after the Romanian international has been sidelined since pre-season.
Gardos sustained a serious knee injury in late August and has only just returned to light training with the Saints, but as he always does, the powerful centre-back has been remaining positive over his return to first-team action coming sooner rather than later.
The 27-year-old has struggled to really find a role at Southampton since joining after the defender got off to a slow start due to recurring ankle problems that continued from his move to the south coast from Steaua Bucharest.

It should probably be the beginning of February that I join with the team in training and then perhaps another couple of weeks before I get used to playing again and being on the pitch with my teammates.
However, when called upon in his 11 appearances for Saints, Gardos has shown promising signs at the back with a no-nonsense approach to his duties and a cool head in difficult situations.
A standout moment for Gardos was his substitute appearance against Manchester United last season. Replacing former loanee Toby Alderweireld midway through the first half due to a hamstring injury, Gardos played a pivotal role in keeping a clean sheet for Saints and holding the defence extremely well alongside captain Jose Fonte in the momentous 1-0 victory.
Are you looking forward to Gardos’ return?
