Charlie Austin signs for Saints - Twitter reacts

It has certainly been an eventful day with all those involved with Southampton Football Club, with the shock signing of England international Charlie Austin along with the well-needed 3-0 domination of West Brom just three hours later.

A brace from James Ward-Prowse and a goal from substitute Dusan Tadic was enough to see of West Brom at St Mary’s this afternoon as Saints made it two home wins out of two to cap a good week for the club.

However, what really made the day special was the acquisition of Austin, signed for an incredibly low fee of £4 million on a four and a half year deal from Championship side QPR.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Austin’s arrival at St Mary’s.

Twitter: First we sign Charlie Austin, then Ward-Prowse scores. Don’t think I can take much more today…. #saintsfc (@BenStanners)

Twitter: For a second just Imagine Charlie Austin on the end of all those half chances we waste… #Saintsfc (@FreshSaints)

Twitter: Charlie Austin’s red and white, red and white, red and white, Charlie Austin’s red and white, he hates Pompey!!!!! #Austin #Saintsfc (@kyranwatts)
