Lazio and Juventus eye Pelle move

According to the Daily Mail, Italian giants Lazio and Juventus are set to make an attempt to bring Graziano Pelle back to the Serie A after an impressive tenure at Southampton so far.

Pelle, 30, returned from injury just last night in Southampton’s 2-0 victory over Watford and has attracted interest from a wide range of clubs this season as a result of his proven capabilities as a target man.

Throughout the campaign, Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United have been rumoured to be interested in the Italian international, despite manager Ronald Koeman issuing several warnings to potential suitors that the former Feyenoord striker would not be leaving St Mary’s in the near future.

It is no secret that Pelle’s success has widely come with Koeman, as shown by the Dutchman’s faith in Pelle throughout both their spells at Saints, but if the powerful front man is seeking a move back to his homeland, the club could be powerless to prevent bids from the footballing heavyweights across Europe coming knocking.

My contract expires in 18 months. Italy is the most beautiful country and it is the beauty that I am missing. I’m fine in England but time will tell.

Southampton will hope that, as a result of Pelle having just 18 months remaining on his deal with the club, there will be no situation similar to the departed Nathaniel Clyne or want-away midfielder Victor Wanyama.

Saints may be forced to act quickly if they are to keep Pelle for the foreseeable future.

Do you think Pelle will extend his contract at St Mary’s?
