According to reports in Italy, Southampton midfielder Gaston Ramirez is a target of Serie A outfit Bologna as the Saints look to offload the Uruguayan from their wage bill this month.
A move away from St Mary’s for Ramirez is inevitable, but it is looking increasingly likely that his next destination will be back to where he was initially signed from, in the form of Bologna.
Ramirez was signed for what was a club record fee of £12 million in Saints’ first season back in the Premier League under Nigel Adkins, however the playmaker has failed to live up to expectations during his tenure at the club.
It has been reported that Ramirez’s wages are upwards of £60,000 per week; an astronomical amount of money to pay a player who rarely plays for the club and especially for a club of Southampton’s stature.

However, with the 24-year-old’s contract coming to a close in the upcoming summer, Southampton are looking to cut their ties with Ramirez and offload him for any money that they can possible conjure for the Uruguay international.
It has been widely documented that Ramirez’s preferred choice of move is back to Italy and with the increasing possibility of Bologna’s interest being pursued this month due to their good form in the Serie A as of late, Ramirez could get his move sooner rather than later.
Are you happy to see Ramirez leave?
