Saints to try again for Sturaro

Southampton are reportedly set to make a new and improved offer for Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro after the Saints had a first bid of £12.7 million rejected by the Italian giants.

It is believed that Sturaro is being lined up by Saints as a potential replacement for want-away midfielder Victor Wanyama, but the Serie A outfit are said to be keen on keeping the 22-year-old until the end of the season at the very least.

Fellow Premier League club Crystal Palace are also interested in the promising Italian with Alan Pardew looking to bolster his midfield options. Sturaro has found first-team chances hard to come by with Juve this season, finding himself behind Sami Khedira and Claudio Marchisio in the pecking order; a midfield duo that would be hard to break apart for any player.

The Italian international has played just 16 times for Juventus so far this campaign, with most of these matches coming from cameo appearances due to the wealth of talent ahead of him.

Juventus are said to be looking upwards of £15 million for Sturaro; a price that Southampton are likely to get for the likely sale of Wanyama in the summer.

Would Sturaro be a good fit for Southampton?
