Southampton have terminated young forward Sam Gallagher’s loan spell away at MK Dons after the Championship side failed to really utilise the youngster during his tenure at the club.
Gallagher made 15 appearances for the club, failing to score in any of them, however the games that the forward has played have been mainly from the bench and in a hugely limited amount of time.
Although Southampton are struggling for goals this season as well as the injury concerns in the striking department, it is widely expected that the main reason behind Gallagher’s return is due to a lack of game time; similar to how Saints centre-back Jack Stephens was recalled earlier in the week due to limited chances at Middlesbrough.

Despite Gallagher’s failure to find the net at the Stadium MK, boss Karl Robinson spoke highly of the 20-year-old.
Sam’s attitude has been spot on and he’s always given everything – it’s unfortunate that things haven’t worked out. He’s found opportunities limited and it’s vital, at his age, that he is playing games on a regular basis and we never want to stand in the way of a young player doing that.
Do you think Gallagher has a future at Southampton?
