Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster is expected to make his return from injury tonight after nine months out injured with a knee injury.
Southampton’s under-21’s face Chelsea in the under-21 Premier League cup tonight and Fraser Forster is expected to start as he starts his road to a return to first-team action.
Saints manager Ronald Koeman said when Forster first returned to first-team training that he would need at least one under-21 match to try to get him back into the swing of things and a game against Chelsea could be the perfect test to see whether or not he is ready to return to Premier League action.
Maarten Stekelenburg has been Southampton’s first-choice so far this season between the sticks but has been far from impressive. Saints fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of the England international to regain his place in the side and help Southampton to improve their form.
