Southampton are reportedly set to renew their efforts in a bid to keep want-away midfielder Victor Wanyama for a longer amount of time as the Kenyan enters the last 18 months of his current deal at the club.
It was well documented that Wanyama was looking for a move away from St Mary’s last summer as the powerful midfielder attempted to push through a move to Tottenham at the end of the transfer window with a formal transfer request that was met abruptly by Southampton’s refusal.
However, months have passed and Southampton are looking at a fresh attempt to tie Wanyama down to a new and improved contract.
Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has confirmed Saints’ intentions to retain Wanyama’s services with the club in a recent interview, revealing that he is on the list of players whose contracts are set to be improved and re-offered.

There are some players on the list when I spoke to Les Reed I know because we had that problem at the beginning of the season that players have also ambitions to play on a higher level.that the club is trying to talk to that kind of player about contracts, longer stay, and Victor is one of them.
It’s all about if there is really interest in the player and the player gets really interest and he likes to move. I think it’s still too early to talk to the player because he still has a contract after this season. It’s too early now to talk about the situation.
Would you like to see Wanyama stay beyond his current contract?
