Southampton are prepared to take on high-flying Arsenal in their next Premier League match as they look to put an end to their six game win-less run with a Boxing Day victory over the Gunners.
When the sides last met at St. Mary’s, it was a crucial win and a key highlight in Southampton’s season as they added to Arsenal’s woes with a convincing 2-0 defeat over Arsene Wenger’s men.
Southampton were enjoying an excellent run in their season, sitting comfortably in the top four and loving life in the league, whereas Arsenal were in a bad run of form and there for the taking.
It was the Saints who drew first blood in the tie as the revitalised Sadio Mane swung in the opener from a simply outrageous angle to chip the helpless Wojciech Szczesny and make it 1-0 to Southampton in the 34th minute.

Southampton extended their lead in the second half also, as Dusan Tadic took advantage of some calamitous defending from the Arsenal back-line to punish Szczesny yet again, making it 2-0 in the 56th minute.
It was a monumental victory for The Saints as they brushed aside an injury-struck Arsenal with ease, however this time round it could be a different story due to Arsenal’s excellent league form.
