Koeman set to make changes ahead of Arsenal clash

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has expressed his disappointment at his side’s poor performance against Tottenham as they slumped to their sixth consecutive game without a victory, losing 2-0 to Spurs.

Maybe it’s not playing different, but maybe it’s other players, maybe with more physical players.

Given Koeman’s comments regarding physical players, it can be assumed that the Dutchman is referring to possibly including Oriol Romeu in the starting line-up for next weekend’s clash with in-form Arsenal.

That’s not our philosophy to do that, but sometimes you need more and you need more of a killing mentality.

Koeman also spoke of his frustration regarding Southampton’s lack of killer instinct and failure to convert their chances when they came about, largely reiterating his side’s lack of confidence at their current form.

We got two big chances to score and we don’t score, and we accept it, and of course maybe it’s a little bit of a lack in confidence, but then you have to work harder and be more aggressive and then you can change maybe the moment, but if we make these kind of mistakes by the first goal you don’t win games in the Premier League.

Southampton currently sit 12th in the league and will be looking to turn their season around with a crucial victory over Arsenal on Boxing Day.
