It was a similar case of another loss for The Saints caused by a lack of desire and cutting edge as they sunk to their sixth consecutive game without a victory after Spurs were the latest to put Ronald Koeman’s men to the sword with a 2-0 win.
Tottenham sealed the game with two goals in a matter of minutes towards the end of the first-half, through goals from Harry Kane and Dele Alli.
Yet again, there was a huge shortage in outstanding performers for Southampton, but one display that was a positive to take from the match was in the form of the returning Jordy Clasie.
After being benched for last week’s loss to Crystal Palace, Clasie had a decent game in the heart of midfield for The Saints, showing tenacity and awareness in the middle.
Although he was substituted just after the hour, the Dutchman was one of Southampton’s best players.
