Crystal Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey has spoken of his delight to prevent Southampton striker Shane Long from scoring against him as his side defeated The Saints 1-0 on Saturday.
Palace took all three points thanks to a first-half goal from Yohan Cabaye and the Welsh shot-stopper enjoyed a very good game.
Hennessey made two excellent saves in either half as he made an astonishing save to deny Steven Davis in the first half after his header was narrowly tipped over the bar. However, more importantly for Palace, his save in the dying moments to keep his side ahead was the crucial moment in the match. Hennessey got down brilliantly to save Shane Long’s low drive with his right leg, securing yet another three points for The Eagles.
Shane Long is a good player, I’ve known him for a long time. Sometimes he won’t do anything in a game but then he’ll pop up and punish you.
We did get lucky in some stages but sometimes you need that in football.
Does Shane Long deserve to start against Tottenham?
