Southampton are among a host of clubs who are tracking promising Russian left-back Elmir Nabiullin, currently plying his trade at Russian giants Rubin Kazan.
The 20-year-old has been labelled as one of Europe’s best left-sided young players and his excellent performances for the Russian club have not gone unnoticed.
Southampton have been reportedly looking over Nabiullin’s progress in the Europa League also this season, as the starlet has played in matches against big European sides such as Bordeaux and Liverpool throughout his side’s group stage campaign so far, which they will continue as they prepare to take on Bordeaux this evening.
The Saints may be looking for defensive reinforcements as their leakage of goals recently has been a growing concern for manager Ronald Koeman and a back-up left-back for Ryan Bertrand could be in the offing – despite the presence of academy left-back Matt Targett, who has been Southampton’s second choice left sided defender throughout the course of the season.
Nabiullin has played 42 games for Rubin Kazan at the age of 20 and has one appearance for the senior Russian side.
