Powerful Southampton midfielder Oriol Romeu has recently told the Daily Echo of how he is prepared to take his opportunities when they come about to impress manager Ronald Koeman in order to cement a place in the starting 11 at The Saints.
Romeu came on in the second half against Aston Villa in Southampton’s last Premier League game to score their only goal in a drab 1-1 draw and is looking to play more minutes for the side.
It has seemed as though Romeu has found himself slightly down the Saints pecking order as Victor Wanyama, Jordy Clasie and Steven Davis have been the three to make up the midfield as of late however after flourishing last Saturday, Romeu is hoping for a start against Crystal Palace this weekend.
Every chance you have on the pitch and in every game you want to take it and make it important and make it count. That’s what I try to do every time. It worked a bit more because I scored.

The mentality will always be the same, I will always try to be in the line-up and fight for the place there and prove to the coach that I’m ready to play.
Romeu was signed by Southampton for just £5 million in the summer from Chelsea and although chances have been hard to come by as a result of the wealth of options that Southampton possess in their midfield, Romeu has impressed when called upon.
I want to make my skills better and make less mistakes next time so I like to watch my games to see what I’m doing wrong and right and make it better next time. It makes me better time by time.
How have you rated Oriol Romeu so far?
