Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has ordered his side to turn their mid-week disappointment into positivity ahead of Saturday’s clash with Aston Villa.
Following on from his team’s 6-1 capitulation at the hands of a rampant Liverpool side, Koeman insisted that there would not be wholesale changes to the team and that it would not be an issue to lift the players up after being knocked out after the Capital One Cup.
This Saturday is not about the system and who will start. It’s about running, hard work, being a team, being compact and showing that we can give a good reaction.
I feel myself very difficult for the fans – everybody came with a lot of expectation and I had that expectation as well. The final performance was not good.
Southampton will be looking to capitalise on an out of form Aston Villa side at the weekend as they hope to end their three-game ongoing losing streak.
