On a wet and windy afternoon in Manchester, Southampton sunk to their second consecutive Premier League defeat at the hands of a clinical Manchester City side in a 3-1 defeat at the Etihad.
Southampton couldn’t have started much worse, with City coming out all guns blazing and taking a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes thanks to goals from Kevin de Bruyne and Fabian Delph. Things proceeded to get better, however, as shortly after the interval Shane Long pulled a goal back for The Saints to reduce the deficit. It just was not to be for Southampton though as Aleksandar Kolarov slashed Southampton’s hopes of a comeback with City’s third goal 20 minutes from time to make it 3-1; the final score.
Here are five things that I feel as though we have learnt from the game.
