Southampton have reportedly been the first club to make a bid for promising young Cheltenham winger Luke Thomas, for what is believed to be a ‘five-figure sum’.
The 16-year-old has broke into Cheltenham’s first team four times so far this season from the bench and has impressed on all of these occasions, inevitably attracting interest to a player so young.
Thomas has been a key figure in Cheltenham’s under-18’s side, netting 14 times so far for the non-league leaders at youth level, including six in the FA Youth Cup.
The Saints are not the only team that have reportedly taken an interest to the promising English wide-man, as it has become apparent that other top Premier League clubs such as Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea have also taken a liking to Thomas.
Thomas, 16, has also caught the attention of former-European champions Benfica when he featured in his side’s pre-season tour of Lisbon, impressing the Portuguese giants.
