Southampton and Italian club Sampdoria are both interested in making a January move for out of favour Napoli full-back Ivan Strinic.
The Croatian defender arrived at the club only last January, but has been pushed out of Maurizio Sarri’s team. Strinic is yet to make a Serie A appearance this season for Napoli and is set to seek a move elsewhere in January in an attempt to rekindle his career.
It has been reported that Sampdoria have been in talks with the 28-year-old’s agent Tonci Martic, as well as contacting Napoli over a possible move for the Croatia man.
There appears to be a key part of the deal between the two Italian clubs that is becoming a stumbling block, as Napoli appear to want an outright sale for Strinic, however it seems as though Sampdoria only want a loan until the end of the season.
However according to reports, Martic has met representatives of Southampton in London to discuss a potential move for his client over a move to the south coast in the near future, after The Saints appeared to be interest in taking Strinic to the Premier League.
