It was a Dusan Tadic goal from the spot that earned Southampton their second consecutive Premier League victory on Saturday afternoon as they came out on top against a resilient Sunderland side with a 1-0 victory against the North-East team.
Ronald Koeman sprung a few surprises with his team selection, leaving out Oriol Romeu who was expected to fill the void that the suspended Victor Wanyama left, however the Dutchman opted to play James Ward-Prowse instead. Also, the in-form Cedric Soares was dropped to the bench for Maya Yoshida, who was brought into the team for a more physical presence in the Southampton defence.
As unorthodox as Koeman’s tactics were, Southampton won the game and took three crucial points back to St. Mary’s with them. Here is how I rated the performances from Saturday’s game.
