Earlier today, ex-Southampton player Claus Lundekvam took the time to answer some questions from me on the past and present Southampton sides.
The former Southampton captain and Norway international played over 300 games for Southampton before his unfortunate end to his career due to injury and was well liked by Southampton fans. Here is what he had to say on the Southampton of present and past.
How well can you see Southampton doing this season?
I think they will get into the top eight.
If you could have played alongside any current Saints player, who would it be?
Sadio Mane, Dusan Tadic and Graziano Pelle.
What was your favourite memory of your time at Southampton?
There were so many after 12 years there. The Cup final (against Arsenal), testimonial game against Celtic, the 6-3 win at The Dell against Manchester United and the last game at The Dell in the 3-2 win against Arsenal and Matt Le Tissier’s super goal.

Are there any Saints players that you played with who could get into the current side?
Me, of course. Matt Le Tissier, Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott, Michael Svensson, Jason Dodd, Antti Niemi and Wayne Bridge could all play for Southampton these days.
Finally, who was the best Southampton manager you played under?
Gordon Strachan, he got us in the top eight and to a cup final.
Claus then had one final message: Go super Saints.
I would like to thank Claus for taking the time to talk and answer my questions and hope that his top eight prediction is correct!
