Prowsey scores England winner

Southampton academy product James Ward-Prowse scored the only goal of the game as England u21’s beat Norway to open their 2017 UEFA European Under 21 championship campaign and get off to a great start.

Ward-Prowse was recently appointed England under 21 captain following Jack Butland’s call up to the senior side, as he was the previous captain.

He scored his first goal as captain as he scored a first half penalty following a foul on Norwich winger Nathan Redmond in the box. Ward-Prowse coolly tucked away the spot kick and the goal was enough to secure all three points for the young lions.

Ward-Prowse was not the only Saints player involved on the night. Southampton left-back Matt Targett also started the game and Jack Stephens was an unused substitute.

England are now top of their group (group 9) and face Kazakhstan next month. A game that England will be well expected to win and continue their fine start to their Euro campaign.
