Southampton face competition in pursuit of Evan N’Dicka

Southampton have been joined by north London duo Arsenal and Tottenham in their interest in Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan N’Dicka according to Sport Bild (via The Mirror).

The Saints were credited with an interest in the 21-year-old last April and this summer could see offers come from the Premier League for the Frenchman.

Having recovered from a ligament injury suffered at the start of this season, N’Dicka has been impressive for the Bundesliga side and has earned an average match rating of 6.83 with Sofascore.

With 12 appearances in all competitions this season, the 1.92m (6 foot 3) centre-back has been a crucial part of Frankfurt’s strong start to the 2020/21 campaign.

The original report from the German publication claimed that Arsenal may hold an advantage in the pursuit of the France under-21 international as N’Dicka’s agent, Michael N’Cho Ibou, holds close links with the Gunners.

On the back of Tuesday night’s debacle at Old Trafford, it would be easy to get carried away with potential centre-back signings in the summer.

However, with Jannik Vestergaard sidelined through injury and summer signing Mohammed Salisu yet to represent the club after his switch from Real Valladolid, the situation isn’t as bad as it may seem.

That said, N’Dicka seems an immense talent judging by the level of interest in him, and the Saints’ hierarchy shouldn’t rule out further strengthening Ralph Hasenhuttl’s options.
