A number of Southampton fans have been heaping praise on Jannik Vestergaard after his excellent performance during their 2-1 comeback win at Brighton on Monday night.
The Saints managed to continue their remarkable away record in the Premier League in 2020, with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side overcoming a poor start to the game and turning around a 1-0 deficit with a battling display. The three points have taken Southampton back up to fifth in the table and keeps them just four points off top spot.
One player who was instrumental for Southampton was the commanding Vestergaard, who continued to show his incredible transformation from his often-maligned form of last season. The 20-cap Denmark international powered home a towering header from a typically pinpoint corner from James Ward-Prowse to level the score before half-time..
The 28-year-old was also a rock at the back, winning an impressive 10 out of the 11 aerial duels he contested, as well as making five clearances and three interceptions (Sofascore). That enabled him to help keep the Saints in the game when they were a goal down and then provide a solid base for them to claim all three points.

Many Southampton fans were keen to point out the continued improvements being made by the defender so far this term, with one describing the performance from the 1.99m-tall Dane as “absolutely incredible”.
