Galatasaray coach Hasan Sas could keep a close eye on Southampton target Moussa Djenepo at this summer’s African Cup of Nations.
The Standard Liege winger is set to represent his native Mali at the continental tournament, which kicks off on 21 June.
Djenepo has been heavily linked with a big-money move to Southampton, with his team’s manager Michel Preud’homme admitting that should a €22 million offer come in from the Premier League club, it would be hard to refuse.
However, it would appear as though the Saints may not be the only club pursuing the young attacker.
According to claims from Turkish news outlet Fotospor, Galatasaray co-assistant boss Sas will be casting a keen eye over the African Cup of Nations in the coming weeks.
Senegal international Krepin Diatta will reportedly be eyed by the coach, while Joseph Paintsil of Ghana is also on the Super Lig giants’ radar.
Southampton could be keen to wrap up a deal for Djenepo before he jets off to represent his country at the tournament, with the summer transfer window already open for Premier League clubs.
Other wingers who Southampton should consider moving for
Bowen was fantastic for Hull City throughout the Championship season. He would provide Southampton with cutting edge in the final third.
Rashica enjoyed an excellent campaign with Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga. The young winger would add a lot of quality to the Saints squad.
Odegaard was once tipped to be a world-beater upon his arrival at Real Madrid. His career path has not entirely gone to plan, but he has been hugely impressive in the Eredivisie with Vitesse on loan.
Skov was in fine goalscoring form for Copenhagen in the past campaign. He would be a left-field but intriguing acquisition.
Ounas has not really been in the picture at Napoli under Carlo Ancelotti. The young Algerian would provide Southampton with creativity and flair.
